Why Magnavu?

The Need

Let's face it, many dentists suffer from neck, shoulder, back pain, and various eyesight problems....the ADA disability numbers are staggering! These problems often lead to shortened careers. In fact, MSD’s (Musculoskeletal Disorders) are the number one reason for dentists and staff missing work time or retiring early.* Dental professionals all know that the current state of dentistry requires bending, stooping, twisting, and often wearing uncomfortable magnification devices. Most have accepted the fact that they currently have to put up with the pain and stiffness, and if not now, may possibly have to endure it in the future. Why keep doing things the same old way? Imagine being able to perform lengthy procedures with your head up, looking straight ahead at highly magnified images on a high-resolution LCD video display placed at eye level.

The Solution

The new MagnaVu PSII Dental Procedure Scope was designed to allow dentist and staff to perform most dental procedures from a more correct, heads-up relaxed position, similar to medical surgeons. Thanks to the MagnaVu PSII's incredible depth-of-field (over 4"), it produces precise, clear, highly magnified images, which often eliminate the need for magnified loupes or microscopes and reduce eyestrain.

Ergonomics

By combining the MagnaVu with it's Health Chair (Dr.'s Stool), and a more ergonomic posture position during most dental procedures, the MagnaVu can reduce aches and strains by eliminating the need of constantly twisting and bending over the patients. You may actually prolong your dental career or improve your current and future lifestyle by reducing the stress and fatigue that you feel at the end of the day.

Magnification

The MagnaVu features a fully adjustable custom lens system that allows the user to choose the desired optical magnification level from 1X to 23X. Imagine being able to view images 23 times larger than normal. The versatile MagnaVu can look down a root canal, be positioned to perform quadrant dentistry, display an entire arch for Hygiene procedures, or pull all the way back to take beautiful smile and full face images.

Depth-of-Field

The MagnaVu's incredible depth-of-field (over 4") means that everything in the mouth can be in focus at the same time. Depth perception is no longer an issue.

High-Res Video Images

MagnaVu uses the highest resolution digital color CCD camera chip available. Combined with MagnaVu’s custom optics, the MagnaVu is able to produce clear, precise images that will give you the quality images and confidence needed when performing Magnified Video dentistry.

Video Freeze Frame

MagnaVu's built-in HD quality video freeze frame allows you to capture and display distortion free images for archiving or patient education. The foot pedal controlled memory allows you to capture images and view either full size single images or quad format screens with 4 images at once. Captured images can be digitally enlarged up to 46X.

Recording or Archiving

MagnaVu images or live video may be recorded onto a VCR, DVD recorder, or saved into a PC. This makes the MagnaVu ideal for archiving images or procedures for liability purposes, patient communication (send a video home with the patient), or as a teaching and training tool.

Reverse Image

MagnaVu features a "Reverse" or "Mirrored" image switch located on the scope to allow you to see things the way you want. You can work with either a direct or a mirrored image, the choice is yours. This makes using the MagnaVu a snap to learn.

Cool Bright White Light

MagnaVu PSII features powerful, white LED lights that are extremely bright, as well as being cool to the touch. The beam spread is ideal for working on a single tooth or and entire arch. The 8,000 hour bulb should last between 5 to 7 years. The MagnaVu PSII offers 4 settings with the lowest designed for use while working with curable materials. In fact, the light is so good, most users remove and replace their current operatory light with the MagnaVu scope and light combo. This means less clutter in the operatory.

Versatility

The versatile MagnaVu can take the place of most dental cameras, scopes, loupes, and operatory lights. Many procedures can even be done without a mirror-imagine….Mirrorless Dentistry! The MagnaVu can actually save you money by taking the place of many different imaging devices currently being used in the dental operatory.

Ease of Use

The combination of the MagnaVu's amazing optics and the shadow free light produces an environment that will allow you to provide a higher level of care to your patients. The easy to position scope arm allows for a 46" vertical adjustment and has a 64" reach. MagnaVu does not require allot of space, in fact, the light weight arm can also be folded up flat into an area no larger than 32". The MagnaVu can be used with, or without a computer. It works the way you do.

Infection Control

The MagnaVu PSII incorporates a removable clear lens cover that can be cleaned or replaced when needed. The camera and lens assembly can be covered with a disposable barrier (all-wrap) and standard disposable light handle covers can be used. The entire assembly can be wiped off using disinfectant pop-up wipes. The Sealed LCD display can wiped with a soft cloth or disinfectant wipe sheet.

Short Learning Curve

Unlike other magnification products, the learning curve for the MagnaVu is actually very short, usually two to four weeks. The MagnaVu allows you to continue to do dentistry the way you always have, it just enhances your viewing, and will eventually allow you to do most of your procedures without bending over or using a mirror. No need to change your techniques, The MagnaVu just becomes another set of eyes for you. MagnaVu's easy to focus optics and large depth-of-field make it a snap to use. Most office’s start using the scope under low magnification for simple procedures and to inspect the work performed. They will start off by doing 10 to 20% of a procedure off of the screen, and the balance from the mirror as they always have done. After about a week or two, most offices are doing about 50% or more of their procedures using Magnified Video dentistry. Most soon work up to about 80% of most procedures being performed with the use of the MagnaVu after about four to six weeks. As with all things, the learning curve is effected by the time and effort invested in the training and implementation of the product by the staff.

Increase Production

For the first time, your staff will be able to see exactly what you see during a procedure. Soon the staff will be able to learn what you are doing and will be able to anticipate your needs and better assist during procedures. Since a mirror is no longer used during many procedures, no time is wasted keeping the mirror cleaned off. Since many procedures can be performed without the use of a mirror, you could hold the suction and drill at the same time and perform a procedure without the aid of an assistant. May come in handy for one of those after hour’s emergency patients.

Improved Patient Care

MagnaVu's tremendous magnification will allow you to see details possibly unseen before. Use the higher levels of magnification for inspection and quality control. Freeze images for patient education or record entire procedures onto a DVD recorder and hand them to the patient.

MagnaVu and VELscope Team up to save lives.

By mounting the VELscope* Oral Cancer Screening System to the front of the MagnaVu PS2 Dental Procedure Scope, Dentist and staff are now able to see a clear, highly magnified image (up to 23X optical zoom), capture and display the findings to your patient. The MagnaVu’s HD quality freeze frame allows crisp, clear images to be captured to better diagnose potential problem areas. The captured images can be digitally enlarged, printed, and even saved to a computer. The saved images can be used for follow-up visits, after treatment check-ups, or even be forwarded on to a specialist if needed. The MagnaVu PS2 also allows complete live exams and procedures to be easily recorded onto any DVD Player / Recorder.
